- Emergency Housing Voucher Notification
On March 11, President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan of 2021. Part of that plan includes funding for Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHVs). The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is making approximately 1,300 of these vouchers available to KCHA, Seattle Housing Authority, and Renton Housing Authority.
EHVs are specifically to help those people who are:
- Homeless,
- At risk of homelessness,
- Fleeing, or attempting to flee, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking, or
- Were recently homeless or have a high risk of housing instability. If any of these apply to you, you may be eligible for an EHV. Disclaimer: Due to high demand not everyone who is eligible for an Emergency Housing Voucher may receive one.
King County's Coordinated Entry for All (CEA) is in charge of determining eligibility for EHVs. To determine your eligibility for an EHV, schedule an appointment at one of CEA's Regional Access Points in King County.
NOTE: This does not affect the 2020 HCV Waiting List. If you do not qualify for an EHV and you are on the 2020 HCV Waiting List, you will NOT lose your place in line.
If you have any questions about Emergency Housing Vouchers, please contact one of the regional access points. Additional information about CEA can be found at www.kingcounty.gov/cea.
